Porcelain Covered Muffin Dish and Underplate
Lovely gilt decorated porcelain covered (probably muffin) dish and underplate by Brownfield and Sons. Measures 1-1/4" tall by 5-1/4" across the opening, lid is 5-3/4" across while the underplate is 7-3/4". The unusual pierced tabs extend another 1/2" over the bowl rim. Has some signs of utensil use in the bowl, and slightest of wear to plate from the bowl setting on it, and to the rim from the lid resting on the dish, also slight gilt loss to the tabs. Overall in wonderful condition for Staffordshire porcelain (impressed) dated November 1887. Both the plate and bowl carry the twin globe trademark for Brownfield and Son(s), Cobridge Pottery Works, England, along with impressed Brownfield and 11/87 on the plate. The bowl also has "5020" hand painted to bottom. Please inquire as to availability.
